Challenges
There were a number of challenges to consider in designing this communications project. In short, technicality & bureaucracy did damage to people inclined to do the right thing when it came to farming and forestry.
Other issues faced:
Long wait periods for farmers to be licensed and schemes to come through.
Poor advice to get rid of biodiverse regions in favour of fertilised grassland.
The idea of agroforestry was to end up with a forest, rather than trees on a functioning farm.
The solution:
A 12 episode series where farmers could give an open and honest account of the benefits, challenges and advice they would give to other farmers and landowners about planting trees. This was disseminated through multiple social media platforms to encourage discussion around the topic.
